Welcome
On behalf of the National Committee, we wish to welcome you to the 2025 National Open.
This trial would not be possible without the efforts of many people. The extenuating circumstances lead to people rallying to the cause and with only 2 months lead time pulling together the event. So many to thank for their solution orientation and pitch in attitude. A big thank you to Mahri Peschel and Jerry Barrett for their efforts. Our vision for this trial and hope for you is to:
- Compete Fiercely
- Demonstrate Sportsmanship
- Enjoy Fellowship
And in doing so we endeavor to crown a National Champion that will support the genetics of this wonderful breed. For Management of the communications from the National Committee, we will use this site and Hunt Secretary. We will refrain from formally posting on social media. In this way we hope to centralize communications and provide you with a trusted single source channel that facilitates showcasing our great sport. There is lots to do and few to do it. Please bring your best to help us all achieve our mission. Looking forward to seeing you all in the field.
Kind regards
Clay Earl

UTV / ATV POLICY
UTV/ATV use will be managed through the NOC Field Trial Committee based on weather conditions and availability. These vehicles can provide a great resource for a quality field trial but must be used prudentially and efficiently. There will be a couple of community shuttles available to assist with this process, with priority for dogs and competitors. Preference will be given to UTV/ATVs that can accommodate four or more dogs and two or more people. Use and approval of UTV/ATV is contingent upon approval of the Field Trial Chairman.
Requirements for consideration:
- Adult and licensed driver
- Insurance for UTV/ATV
Other considerations before the trial
- Condition of the property. If there is heavy moisture with mud and damage to the property is imminent restrictions will be applied
- Travel on designated routes and flag lines
- No turning in field or courses
- Priority for participants and dogs to assist to get to the line to compete
- UTV/ATV’s not intended for spectators to view the trial
If you wish to bring your UTV/ATV please coordinate with Clay Earl.
Handicapped or Disabled Individuals who have vehicle handicapped approval from their State of Origin and wish to have their personal UTV/ATV will need to submit documentation for approval. While we would encourage sharing we also understand that the personal needs are different and with that in mind we will not require sharing.

TRAINING DAY INFORMATION
As hosts of the 2025 National, we will attempt to help folks travelling to Kansas to have access to birds, grounds and guns that will enable them to prepare their dogs for the trial. Participants are advised to acquaint themselves with Kansas law surrounding the training and hunting regulations and are on their own accord to be in compliance.
Early Arriving Training: We will have properties accessible to early arriving participants to train their dogs. We will also have a supply of pheasants available. Birds will be sold at $16 per hen. Training grounds will be allocated to groups based on contact with the chairman or the Training coordinator (Will Pick (608) 214-1350). Please let us know your needs (bird numbers, need for assistance of guns, days you will need them).
Training Day: The training day will be scheduled for Jan 11 from 9 am – 2 pm. The grounds will be determined at a later date. Directions to the grounds will be posted here and on the maps portion. Please let us know your intention in attending and your requirement for birds. Birds ordered in advance (minimum 3 days prior to Training Day) will be $16. Birds requested after that time, if available, will be $20. We would like to meet your needs and have folks available to help you out without having guns etc out in the field without dogs and handlers. So please let us know so we can be helpful and efficient.
